1. Continue work to increase retail/commercial tax base
2. Engage Community in development of “Shared Vision of Downtown/Town Center”
3. Expand Wastewater Collection system in an affordable manner meeting the needs and expectations of our residents
Yes, on a yearly basis after evaluating economic conditions impacting our residents and the Village
I am sorry to say that I supported the original SSA 23. If I had to do it over again I would have opposed it. We should have engaged our Community in a more comprehensive manner and resolved the questions that our residents felt uncomfortable with relative to funding and affordability.
Applying for and receiving $1,000,00 in federal and State grants to construct a critical portion of our wastewater collection system on Fairview Ave. from Chapel Hill Road to Church Street. The installation of this component of our collection system will not only provide needed service to the residents on the route but also will make future connections more affordable to over 400 land parcels in our Village.
I have the talents and life experiences to move our Village forward in a comprehensive and sustainable manner that reflects the needs of our residents.
I have a proven track record of over 40 years experience in the private sector dealing with customer relations and problem solving.
I am an excellent candidate for the position of Village of Johnsburg Trustee, since I have been serving on the Development & Government Affairs Committee since 2010. Just recently I helped develop a plan to monitor the water and sewer costs for the village. I also bring many years of business and professional experience in real estate and banking that will benefit the board in the future as it continues to look for ways to improve efficiencies running the Village and will help with managing future growth.
1. Develop the Route 31 Corridor with commercial retail stores and restaurants, and manage the road infrastructure to support these new businesses
2. Create more public transportation options including the Metra station expansion project
3. Seek out new housing opportunities for the Village by partnering with developers to create more active adult housing meeting older residents changing needs. Also, offer town houses around the new Metra station to attract professionals to the area and allow first-time home buyers an opportunity to move into the Village
I would support freezing or reducing taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound. Most families today are struggling to pay their monthly bills and additional tax levys will not help. Government entities need to become more efficient with their fiscal spending and they need to prioritize the needs of citizens living in their community. Also, as a Realtor, I know that higher property taxes tend to drive prospective buyers away from a community versus attracting them.
There is no specific village board decision that I disagree with over the last year, but I would like to see that the Village Board work better together to help Johnsburg move forward. It appears the village board has two different factions and I would like to see better unity and direction for the board.
The Village of Johnsburg Board was able to secure 1 million ($1,000,000) dollars from the State and Federal Agencies to advance Johnsburg’s sewer infrastructure. This accomplishment will allow Johnsburg to provide residents and businesses affordable hook up the Village’s waste water treatment system.
The residents of Johnsburg should elect me to office, since I bring over 15 years of business experience along with a new prospective to the position. I am not originally from Johnsburg and I represent a newer subdivision and area for Johnsburg. Currently, there are 3 out of 6 Village Trustees and the Village President that live in the same subdivision. I believe Johnsburg needs a new voice and representation outside of this subdivision to give a balanced perspective for other areas of the Village as well as the entire Johnsburg community.
I will bring a fiscal conservative approach to the office, making sure the Village is being efficiently run, along with helping the residents of Johnsburg continue to take pride in their community
My 35 year professional career with Exelon Corporation managing multi-million dollar utility projects has proven very beneficial in my role as Village Trustee and Chairman of the Public Works Committee. I am well versed in the Village’s daily operational demands as well as the challenges we face in addressing our capital infrastructure needs. Understanding these challenges and finding solutions requires the type of
experience and leadership I will continue to provide. Public Works projects are complicated and financially demanding. My experience and expertise demonstrates I am the most qualified candidate for Trustee to manage and oversee these projects for the Village of Johnsburg.
1. Secure funding to allow the residents of Johnsburg affordable access to sewers
2. Preserve our natural resources, most importantly the Fox River and connected waterways.
3. Maintain our roadways and infrastructure by seeking funding opportunities.
My first two priorities go hand-in-hand, without sewers our natural resources continue to be unprotected. Our biggest challenge is to secure funding as construction costs increase and government funding is drying up. Sewer access must be affordable for the residents in addition to being a high priority to protect our natural resources. My third priority is essential, so we can maintain safe roadways within the village. With 50 miles of roadways within the village, we must have a comprehensive plan to manage and monitor them. Additionally, funding must be available for resurfacing. As oil prices increase, so does repaving.
I would support reduction, removal or freezing of any tax upon the village residents as long as it fits within the overall village budget process. At issue with freezing the tax levy, is the inability to capture tax revenues from expanded growth. Revenue from growth is essential for Johnsburg as we continue to build our commercial corridor.
I have been on the board for just one year, at this point I don’t know of a decision that I disagree with. That being said, I will say that there have some discussions that have taken place, of which I did not agree with all perspectives. In the end though, I did agree with the result of the decision or vote.
We took advantage of the 1 million dollars secured in State and Federal grant money to advance Johnsburg’s sewer infrastructure. By expanding the “backbone” of the sewer system we will reduce the overall cost to residents and businesses of Johnsburg. The project was delivered on time and within the budget with no cost to the residents.
My commitment to Johnsburg is absolute. Giving back to my home town has always been a top priority for me. While living in Johnsburg I’ve dedicated my time and talents to our community in many ways including Public Works and McHenry Township Fire Protection District at Company 2 in Johnsburg. The residents of Johnsburg should elect me based on my professional experience and demonstration of my involvement within the community over the past 30+ years.
I’ve served as a trustee for four years. During that time, I’ve continued to stay focused on what is best for our residents based upon their feedback and input. It was that lack of empathy by the previous Board that propelled me into office. And if given the opportunity by our residents, I will continue to serve on there behalf using the same guiding principles.
True transparency in government and the promotion of the Route 31 business corridor to bring needed revenues into the Village which will hopefully equate into tax relief for our residents.
It is definitely a consideration. Similar to the budget within our individual households, you learn to live within your means. When finances are strained, you postpone the purchase of big ticket items and you make due with what you have. Government needs to learn to do the same.
The Board recently voted down the approval of a resolution to put the question to the voters whether the village clerk should be an elected position rather than appointed. This was an issue I supported as I believe the residents should have the right to decide how their governing body is to be selected. That decision denied them that right.
The ability to put our personal differences aside and focus on the issues impacting the Village during the most difficult of financial times.
Because for those who know me and for those who know of me, I have always been there acting on their behalf thru the most difficult of issues and pride myself on being the voice of reason in doing what is best for our residents.
