On the Record
What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?
I am seeking my 2nd term so I know where the Village came from and where we are trying to get it. I am hands on with all the departments as well as all the committees and am involved with the final decision on all matters.I attend every monthly McCog meeting so I have become very familiar with how other Municipalities function and surround myself with people that can answer most any question in both State and local government.
What are your top two or three priorities if elected?
Top priority is to get funding for the final 2 phases of the storm water project that has been going on for two years. That would finish the much needed project. Second priority is finalize a deal with Metra to get a Pace bus stop located within the Village, added to their daily route. Third priority is to continue to add programs for families and activities for both kids as well as adults both within the Village and at the Village Hall.
Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?
Yes I would support freezing the tax levy. The pounding that the average resident takes to the wallet every day on everything from gasoline for the car to the milk for the kids cereal leaves us all with very little left. I am all for anything we can do to put at least a few more dollars in the average persons pocket to help them make ends meet until things rebound.
What one decision by the village board do you most disagree with and why?
I don’t disagree with the board. We discuss everything and at the end, we all believe the decision is whats best for the Village.
What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?
By far, the biggest accomplishment in the past year is the addition of the new Village Hall. The old building used up its life a long time ago and became a unhealthy and unsafe building to be in. Now, we have a great facility to be proud of and we look forward to adding functions for the residents on a regular basis.
Why should voters elect you to office?
I am a resident first and foremost. I want all the same things that the other residents want. I am hands on, I listen to what the residents are saying and I won’t stop working to get the results they are looking for. I won’t take no for a answer. Where others thought it easier to look the other way rather than pound the pavement or turn over every rock to get things done, I don’t look the other way. I Started “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” 4 years ago to bring this great community together and so every resident could know that there is someone right here in there own community that is willing to help.I think I have made a difference for the better of the Village in my 4 years in office. But, we are not done yet, we have a long way to go. I will always be a resident here and I will always be here to help, if I am the Village President or not.
