Vice President of Operations, Maverick Pools Inc.
On the Record
What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?
I have a strong business background that ranges from employee management to contracts and negotiations. Over the past four years, I feel that I’ve done an effective job in office as Mayor. If given the opportunity again, I would continue to lead our Village in the next four years in a positive fashion.
What are your top two or three priorities if elected?
My top priority is to bring businesses to the Village of Lakemoor. We will focus on a marketing strategy that will attract businesses to our town. By bringing more businesses to town, it will provide us with a strong tax base and lower the burden on our residents. My second priority is to provide much needed assistance to all areas of our community. Our Village is diverse and each individual area has different needs, whether it be through obtaining grants to provide assistance in road projects or litigating on bond claims to complete the much needed site improvements in Rockwell Place. My third priority is to bring more park programs and park improvements to our residents. We have doubled our park programs for the 2013-2014 calendar. We will be expanding programs not only for our youth but also for adults and seniors.
Would you support freezing your taxing district’s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?
Yes, I would support freezing our tax levy until housing prices rebound. I feel that we as a nation are enduring one the toughest economic times that this country has seen and government needs to act fiscally responsible.
What one decision by the village board do you most disagree with and why?
I am very pleased with the decisions that the village board has made. I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve with the six current trustees and two former trustees. This village board is very cohesive and therefore we’ve been able to make positive changes in our community. It is refreshing to work with people that put the residents first.
What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?
The biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year was bringing Walgreens this spring but also we were able to add 18 new homes to our community. This is a huge accomplishment due to the economic downturn.
Why should voters elect you to office?
Voters should elect me to office because I’ve proven myself over the past four years. We’ve had a balanced operating budget in the last three years. I’ve brought all departments up to current standards. We’ve brought professionalism to the Village of Lakemoor. We’ve brought in new businesses and should the voters grant me the opportunity to be Mayor again, I will continue to serve on this path of progress.
