What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?
As a successful business owner I bring financial wisdom and accountability to the board. I have held leadership roles on several boards and committees throughout the county including past chairman of the Grafton Township transportation commitee. I have the ability to work with a board to do what is right for the people who put us there.
What are your top two or three priorities if elected?
I want to end the needless spending on lawyers fees. We do not need lawyers advising every decision the board makes. I will push to get the audits done on the township books so the new board truly knows the financial status of Grafton Township. I will help develop a sound and strict budget and adhere to it. Finally I will work with the new board to figure out how to sustain our current programs with the limited funding we will have as there is a huge deficit hole to climb out of first and foremost.
Would you support freezing your taxing district\'s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?
I do support a freeze on the levy. Every taxpayer in America has to live within the budget or income they are allocated and every government entity should have to do the same.
What one decision by the township board do you most disagree with and why?
The decision this board made to pass a budget for the 2012/2013 fiscal year with an increase in legal spending and deficit spending of 250,000 dollars was a slap in the face to every taxpayer in Grafton Township. The current board passed this budget and now does not understand why they are broke and have no place to turn for help.
What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?
Sadly, for the taxpayers of Grafton Township the board made several lawyers much wealthier. Seriously, this board has accomplished absolutely nothing in this past year. They have destroyed what once was a fiscally sound and respected township. This is why I decided to get involed. I want to help restore the integrity, respect and accountability back to Grafton Township.
Why should voters elect you to office?
I have a wealth of history in Grafton Township government. I have lived in the township my entire life and have been involved in many meetings over the years. I have the ability to work in harmony with my fellow board members even though we may not always agree we must work together to do what is best for the taxpayers of the township. I ask that you vote for all the (RESTORE) candidates, Jim Kearns(Supervisor),Tim Hoeft(Road Commissioner),Terra Jensen(Assessor)and Trustees, Joe Holtorf,Tammy Lueth and myself Dan Ziller Jr. as this group will restore the respect and financial stability back to Grafton Township.
