On the Record
What experiences do you have that make you a good candidate for office?
Life lessons. I was a stay at home mom for many years. My husband and I raised four kids on one income. I was in charge of the finances and budget, successfully. We learned to live within our means. My experience in the home health field will benefit the current and future programs for the seniors and disabled.I have attended numerous township meetings for the past 6-7 years, keeping abreast of the township business and affairs. Lastly, one of my strong points is working well with others.
What are your top two or three priorities if elected?
First priority is to regain the financial stability of the township. Second, to resolve the outstanding lawsuits. Third, once the township is financially stable, to develop and expand on programs to benefit the residents of the township
Would you support freezing your taxing district\'s levy until housing prices rebound? Why or why not?
Until the audits and the financial status of the township is known, it is hard to answer this question. Like any other taxpayer, I don\\\'t want taxes to go up. I would support freezing tax levy, if feasible.
What one decision by the township board do you most disagree with and why?
I disagree with the lawsuits. This current board should have been able to work together and resolve the conflict put before them. Personal agendas should have been put aside. It is obvious that they didn\\\'t have the best interest of the township and residents at heart. I cringe when I see how much of the taxpayer dollars they have spent on lawyers
What was the biggest accomplishment of the board in the past year?
Truthfully, in my honest opinion, they haven\\\'t accomplished anything except lining the pockets of the lawyers and destroying the finances and integrity of the township.
Why should voters elect you to office?
I am a home health nurse in Mchenry, Lake and Kane Co. There are so many people out there who need help. When I have a patient or family who need assistance financially, I ask them if they have contacted their township, the majority of them don\\\'t know what a township is or how to contact them. I make sure they have the contact number. I was born and raised in Huntley and have knowledge of what townships are and their purpose. I feel with my background and knowledge I can help the residents get the most out of their township. I have excellent communications skills, knowlegdable, common sense, able to plan and maintain a budget. The one thing I take pride in, is listening to both sides, gather all information needed, weighing pros and cons, and making a rational decision. Sometimes the hardest decisions aren\\\'t the easiest ones. I will add a strength to the next Grafton trustees board because I have the ability to work well with others. Please vote for me on April 9th.
